Cinema 4D version mismatch (PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETUP)

The error

"This version of AE requires an installation of Cinema 4D R24 (24.111 or later)" — appears on every launch, across AE 23–26.

Why this happens

After Effects ships with its own bundled Cinema 4D Lite build. A separate, standalone Maxon Cinema 4D install on the same machine gets detected instead, and its version doesn’t match what AE expects.

How to fix it

  1. Uninstall the standalone Maxon Cinema 4D version.
  2. Reinstall After Effects completely so its bundled Cinema 4D Lite installs alongside it.
  3. Don’t install a separate standalone Maxon C4D — let the AE installer manage that pairing.
